This painting was inspired by a photo I took years ago at a pumpkin patch in Huntersville NC, but it wasn’t until I started painting it that I realized why I love this image so much. The way the jack-o’-lantern looks up at the scarecrow reminds me of an old photo of me and my little sister. It was my birthday, and we were sitting at the kitchen table in front of my cake. I had my arm around her, and she was looking up at me with this sweet, wide-eyed expression.
