The inspiration for "13 Flags" is multifaceted, drawing from my 24 years serving in the military and my experience volunteering with the annual "Tee Off for a Veteran" charity golf tournament at Warrior Golf Club, NC. This event, dedicated to supporting local veterans in need, serves as a powerful reminder of the community's commitment to those who have served. The painting also pays homage to the 13 servicemen and servicewomen who tragically lost their lives during the Afghanistan withdrawal in 2021. Through this artwork, I aim to memorialize their sacrifice and convey the resilience of the American spirit in the face of adversity.
